ABOUT THE ROLE

The IT Technical Support Technician will join a growing team and organization that strives to provide a collaborative environment where each employee is encouraged to contribute to our processes, discussions and culture and grow within their role.  We are looking for a candidate who will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of all computer equipment, work stations and associated software at SHAPE. The IT Technical Support Technician will also be the main point of contact for employees who are experiencing computer issues. This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to join an established organization that has experienced significant growth. This role will report to our Director, IT Operations.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Provide IT Desktop support to end-user. This includes all desktop computing hardware, software and peripherals
  • Make timely and accurate diagnosis of system related problems; determine between hardware, software and network related issues
  • Take ownership for assigned incidents, problems and contact required resources both inside and outside the company as necessary to resolve the problem with minimal supervision
  • Develop and maintain support documents and system for our technical team
  • Identify and solve any problems that affect desktop computer operating systems, troubleshoot routine problems and maintenance of systems
  • Train employees and orient them on how to use computer hardware and software applications
  • Maintain other relevant computer peripheral devices such as monitors, printers, etc.
  • Prepare necessary computer equipment quotation for our users
  • Identify areas of process improvement and create efficiencies within the role and department

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work some shift work, including working weekends as needed for projects

Required Training and Experience

  • 2-3+ years previous experience in an IT Technical Support role
  • Completion of a two-year diploma in computer information technology
  • Experience in maintaining PC client workstation hardware, operating systems, applications, printers, mobile devices, networking.
  • Basic understanding of server side components and applications including web applications
  • On-site experience is an asset
  • Understanding of basic network protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, HTTPS, as well as network hardware

Working Conditions

Based at our corporate office, located in downtown Vancouver, the successful candidate can expect a comfortable and collaborative work environment in a modern office setting. Due to the nature of the role, the IT Technical Support Technician will be required to travel to different sites from time to time.

Salary Range: $65,000-75,000/year
